About Time Doctor:

Time Doctor headquartered in Sydney, co-founded by Liam Martin, is an employee time management software. Time Doctor sends daily reports and documents to the department head or manager regarding the current tasks. It tracks websites visited by the employees, and time spent by the employees, so that time can be invested effectively.

1.What according to you are the major pillars on which Time Doctor stands upon?

We believe that companies that allow their employees to work remotely will have happier, more productive employees. These companies will be able to hire the best talent regardless of geography.

2. How did you hit upon the idea for your Company?

Our CEO, Rob, was trying to manage a team of freelancers while building a web app. He realised how difficult it was to do so. With that, he built a simple tool to help him. That tool has evolved to become Time Doctor.

3. How do you differentiate yourself from your competitors?

We don’t just tell you how many hours a person works during the day, we will also tell you what they’re doing during the day. We’ll tell you which apps and sites they’ve visited, when they were productive, and when they were away from their computer. We give business owners an X-Ray vision into their employees’ work day.

4. How have sales evolved since you first got into the business? What hasn’t changed?

When we started, we were strictly an inbound sales organization. We have since built an outbound sales team to target larger organizations.

5.Would you rather be respected or feared?


6. Think of something you’ve done in the past; what would you have done differently?

It’s easy to say that I would have done something differently. However, I personally wouldn’t have done anything differently. Each success and mistake that I’ve made, has lead me to where I am today. If I hadn’t made the mistakes I had made, then I wouldn’t have been able to learn from them.

7. How do you approach a decision where people disagree with you?

I spend time trying to see their point of view as objectively as I can. I will say this: If they have data to back up their opinion, then it’s a no brainer and I’ll concede every single time.

8.What do you expect to see over the next 5 to 10 years in the Industry?

We think that more and more companies are going to be open to remote workers. Right now, remote workers consist of a minority of the labour force. In the next 10 years, we believe that remote workers (especially knowledge workers) will consist of the majority.

9. What are your experiences with highs and lows at Time Doctor?

I think that we have the same highs and lows as most companies. When we sign a big customer, that’s a huge high for us. When we lose a customer or an employee, that’s a low for us.

Lastly, we would be glad to have your valuable suggestion for the new Entrepreneurs coming up in the industry today.

Blaze your own trail. Do not copy what’s been done in the past. The industry is changing so quickly that you don’t want to play catch up.
