Nobody ever liked waiting in long queues, but we were taught that good things come to those who wait. Waiting in queues can be both time-consuming and frustrating, often causing disinterest. However, until very recently, there was no mechanism to digitize the queueing process, hence clinics, salons, restaurants, etc. often experienced long queues where people had to wait for hours. 

Thankfully, those days are behind us and new applications have come up to help us line-up effortlessly. Aptly named as LineUp, this application has helped several businesses put their customers in digital queues, saving their time and informing them where they need to be and when. Such features are adding to the popularity of the app.

We are fortunate to have interviewed Mr. Ben Yehooda, the founder of LineUp, and know about his and his company’s journey so far.

Here’s an excerpt from the interview:

A warm welcome from SoftwareSuggest Mr. Ben Yehooda. Our readers are keen to know about you. Tell us about your journey so far.

After working on several startups, from an engineer all the way to a co-founder, I wanted to launch this venture to add significant value and meaning to our users. We started on a random Sunday of July 2018 in a shared office space on 39th and Broadway, NYC. It was Ramandeep, myself, and about 20 other students from various backgrounds and various schools in the tri-state. LineupApp started from a profound need to make people’s lives better.

We are passionate about identifying the needs of both our customers and the general population. We hone in on their pain and frustration to engineer a solution to better their lives and better their businesses. Since then, we have evolved and grown a lot.

Our original product has shifted from a mobile app to a tablet app and a web app. With every turn in the road, we found more happy customers with more demand and a better fit between our values, our long-term vision, and the market needs.

What is your success formula? Something you have followed personally that has helped you in your personal and professional journey?

A TED talk inspired me many years ago. The talk was about Grit – an internal drive that is between perseverance, persistence, and determination. I come from humble beginnings, so this view of life and the idea that I can build a life for myself through hard work and Grit is very appealing.

So far, it has proven itself to be an excellent guiding value for improving life. I keep planning as far into the future as I can and continue working hard and pushing forward. If my family had a family motto, it would simply be; Push, Push, Push!

What is the biggest challenge that you are facing while working towards LineupApp’s growth and how did you overcome it?

LineupApp is a software development company. We are on top of everything software engineering-related. Our practices, operations, people, and products are at the top of the marketplace. Our challenge was that we have not started with great marketing and sales competencies. Building a successful business is far more than building the best software.

“If you build it (package it, distribute it, market it, brand it, sale it, tax it, patent it, and competitively price it), they will come.” To overcome this challenge, we partnered with a software reseller who covered all of these competencies. They are a fantastic and instrumental partner. We were very fortunate to build a relationship with them, and they drive most of the traffic to our product. We hope to work with them and many other great partners like them in the future.

What separates LineupApp from its competitors?

Efficiencies. We believe in the Toyota philosophy of operation and the Amazon obsession with customers’ satisfaction. We are extremely focused on aligning every bit of energy, funds, and resources toward improving customers’ happiness.

These efficiencies translate to more features and better prices but, most importantly, to better value – better-priced features that deliver the most supply for the demand. We have the best prices in the marketplace and the most features, but we also have the most significant alignment between the users’ needs and our solution.

How do you see the company changing in two years, and how do you see yourself creating that change?

Our two years plan is to become the go-to solution globally. We plan to be the only product that any business would use in this space. To do that, we must continue to uphold our values and deliver a superior product at competitive pricing.

We will expand to other languages and compete on prices and features through all geographies. To accomplish this, we will focus even more than before on our customers’ requests and needs. We will prioritize the customers’ demands and keep working hard to serve them where they are.

How has Covid-19 impacted your business, and what is your strategy moving forward in the new normal?

This is an interesting question for our business. Given the specific product we are building, our company has played a role in fighting Covid-19. We are exceptionally well-positioned to be a key factor in the long-term recovery from the pandemic.
